Requires: Power ideal, No Justice Without Power, No Honor Without Power, or No Freedom Without Power

If you choose this Code as a starting hero, you know Code of Power and its spells. Otherwise, you can learn Code of Power with XP—so long as you have the Power ideal or one of the abilities listed above (from the Freedom, Honor, or Justice codes) that unlocks it.

Code of Power

Will  This ability grants two spells: 𐎺Command and 𐎺Will to Power.

𐎺Command  |   SOULSIGHT  4

Roll Compel and speak a single sentence, directed at the target of your gaze, in the form of “You shall…” or “You shall not…”  You can’t command the character to inflict self-harm. If the character has either the Power or Freedom ideal, take a -2 penalty on this roll. Success: The character follows your command on their next turn. Struggle: The character can take -1 spirit to rebuff your magic. Failure:  No effect.The Guide can also inflict a -2 penalty if your command flagrantly conflicts with ideals besides Freedom or Power—for example, commanding someone with Fellowship to harm their friend.Succeed, struggle, or fail, the character becomes hostile to you, if they’re not already.

𐎺Will to Power   |   SOULSIGHT  2+

As part of casting this spell, take any nonmagical action directed at the foe. You gain a +1 bonus on your action for every 2 points of soulsight you expend. The maximum bonus you can achieve equals your Will. 

Abilities to Learn

Indominatable

✦✧ Will  Requires Power ideal. When you Grapple or Shove a foe, invoke Power by taking -1 awareness instead of -1 spirit.

Unleash

✦✧ Will  When you Stand Fast, you draw forth your inner power and prepare to unleash it. Instead of increasing your guard by a number of points equal to your roll, you can reserve a number of these points, up to your Will. On or before your next turn, you can apply the reserved points as a bonus to an attack, brace, or compel roll. 

Heart of Power

✦✦✧ Will  Gain +1 max Life and add +1 to the calculation for your Compel die.

Thy Will is Done

✦✦✧ Will  This ability grants two spells: 𐎺Articulate and 𐎺Dominate. Casting either of these spells on a character causes them to become hostile to you, if they’re not already, regardless of the outcome.

𐎺Articulate  |   SOULSIGHT  4

Roll Brace with compel advantage to take direct control of a character’s body.Success: On the character’s next turn, you use their body to make a free attack, brace, or maneuver of your choice, with -2 penalty. Use the character’s action dice, but not their abilities. If this action triggers a free action (such as a free attack from Outflank), the free action also has a -2 penalty.Struggle: The foe can take -1 stamina to resist your magic. Failure: No effect.

𐎺Dominate   |   SOULSIGHT  8

Roll Compel to completely dominate a character’s soul. If the character has either the Power or Freedom ideal, take a -2 penalty on this roll.Success: You can immediately cast the Command spell without expending its soulsight cost. Also, as long as you maintain soulsight over the character, you can cast Command—again, without expending its soulsight cost—as a free action at the start of your turn, before taking your turn action. Struggle: The character can take -1 spirit to rebuff your magic. Failure:  No effect.

No Power Without Justice

Intellect  Your experience has led you to conclude that Power without Justice has a tendency toward corruption, eroding its structural stability. When you learn this ability, you also learn the Code of Justice ability and its spells. You can subsequently learn other abilities from the Code of Justice. (You don't gain the Justice ideal, however.)
